test variable has a value - empty string tests as true

empty()

tests variable has an 'empty' value, string ,(), NULL of FALSE

is_numeric

tests if it is a number

date(format,timestamp)

returns the date - see below for argument options

The floor() function returns the value of a number rounded DOWNWARDS to the nearest integer.

Z	timezone offset in seconds (i.e. '-43200' to '43200'). The offset for timezones west of UTC is always negative, and for those east of UTC is always positive.
